New restaurant openings come with new private dining spaces to check out and a few surprises, too.
Here are five popular restaurants that opened across the country in 2017—each offering a decadent menu that will surely impress the palates of attendees.
New York’s Chinese Tuxedo
Located inside a former Chinatown opera house, Chinese Tuxedo impresses groups with its two-story space, decked out with cozy booths and plants lining the walls. Its contemporary Chinese fare is served on both large and small plates, with dumplings being a major highlight. Opened last year, the space has that typical intimate-but-open New York feel and offers private dining for groups.
New Orleans’ Saffron NOLA
Groups looking to take a timeout from the bustling French Quarter district should make their way to New Orleans’ popular Magazine Street, where Saffron NOLA serves up a less-traditional menu of Indian flavors. Tamarind shrimp and curried seafood gumbo recreate the city’s best foods into a Modern Indian experience, with event space for up to 50 standing.
Kansas City, Mo.’s Corvino Supper Club & Tasting Room
Last year brought about much buzz for Kansas City, Mo.’s newly opened Corvino Supper Club & Tasting Room. The downtown space is essentially two restaurants under one roof, both of which bring creative dishes to the table from Chef Michael Corvino, recently named a James Beard Foundation 2018 Best Chef: Midwest Semifinalist. Private dining is available for up to 50 attendees who can order shareable plates off the Supper Club menu, or meeting planners can arrange for Chef Corvino himself to create a custom coursed meal. To top it off, live music is available most nights of the week.
Helena, Mont.’s Wassweiler Dinner House and Pub
The once historic Helena inn and bathhouse has been given new life, reopening to the public as the Wassweiler Dinner House and Pub. The inn used to have seven guest rooms that have been separated into two intimate dining rooms. The main dinner house serves upscale fare, including the popular 22-ounce cowboy cut ribeye. The building that once held the bathhouse will soon be turned into a pub that will serve up more casual food.
Los Angeles’ Michael’s Santa Monica
New to the West Coast, Michael’s Santa Monica continues the California cuisine tradition in one of Los Angeles’ most sun-drenched areas. Two private rooms and an exquisite outdoor garden can accommodate groups of all sizes to nosh on starters like Japanese sweet potato and foie gras.
