The Le Méridien Chambers Minneapolis is offering an ice fishing package that invites groups to roll up their sleeves and try their hand at the largest ice angler population in the nation. Several hundred thousand people stare into faintly-lit holes on Minneapolis’ frozen lakes and rivers every year, many having repeated this tradition since childhood.
The boutique art hotel’s VIP ‘Hooked On Winter‘ offer includes a guided ice fishing experience with a heated ice-house (roughly 70 degrees) to keep groups warm no matter how cold it is outside. The five-hour excursion to St. Cloud takes place 10am to 3pm, and includes lunch and locally brewed beer throughout the day. Transportation, winter accessories and ice fishing materials are all provided.
Afterwards, groups return to the hotel to enjoy an ‘ice-house to table’ dinner in the private barrel room of the MARIN Restaurant & Bar. Executive Chef Mike Rakun will prepare the day’s catch alongside seasonal ingredients and a wine pairing. Penthouse accommodations feature contemporary artwork and a 600 sf wraparound balcony with panoramic views of the city’s urban skyline.
Le Méridien Chambers Minneapolis offers 60 guest rooms located in two landmark revival buildings. The lobby and guest rooms feature over 200 pieces of original contemporary art work, and the hotel has partnered with Walker Art Center Minneapolis to provide free entry to this contemporary art museum for every guest on presentation of their artist-designed key card.
Package rates start at $3,600 for two nights, for stays from Dec. 17 – Feb. 29, 2016. Groups of 3+ incur an additional charge of $400 per person.
