Refreshed, refurbished, expanded, and influenced by a significant commitment to eco accreditation, responsible luxury, and sustainability.
Cairns & Great Barrier Reef saw record investment over the past five years and invites delegates to discover what’s new in our contemporary city, iconic towns, and lush, tropical surrounds.
The centerpiece of the New Cairns is the refreshed and expanded world-class Cairns Convention Centre. The showpiece of the $176 million project is the stunning, floor-to-ceiling glass-fronted Trinity Room with views over the inlet. The Centre’s expansion adds 10,500m2 of meeting and event space featuring state-of-the-art technology, a commitment to sustainable events and a refresh of existing facilities mirroring the palette of iconic regional heroes — the Great Barrier Reef, Wet Tropics Rainforest, and the Outback.
Cairns city welcomed Crystalbrook Collection’s three new 5-star properties, featuring 877 accommodation rooms and a swath of versatile event zones, restaurants, and bars. An immersive art and design rejuvenation throughout the event spaces, poolside area and guest rooms at Pullman Cairns International brought a new level of luxe to the city’s heart. A few steps away, the Pullman Reef Hotel Casino delivered an opulent new lobby, expanded fine dining restaurant, and modern café.
Delegates to Port Douglas will luxuriate in the $20 million transformation of ultra-private Silky Oaks Lodge. A member of the exclusive Luxury Lodges of Australia, Silky Oaks offers delegates seeking a nature-based retreat the opportunity to immerse themselves in the region’s essence and surrounding rainforest through floor-to-ceiling glass and unique indoor and outdoor relaxation spaces.
Outside, the new Cairns Esplanade Waterfront Dining Precinct presents a vibrant, urban dining space with vertical gardens bordering sprawling green waterfront lawns. In contrast, a collection of new laneway and rooftop cocktail bars, distilleries, and micro-breweries invite delegates to cool off in style.
Out on the water, Experience Co’s new floating pontoon hosts a scientific laboratory on the Great Barrier Reef teaching delegates about the ecosystem and current coral conservation projects. Additionally, sister vessel Dreamtime Dive and Snorkel connects delegates with the world’s oldest continuing indigenous culture as they share stories of the Traditional Custodians.
In partnership with Spinal Life Australia and Out There Travel Care, a new online resource, The Accessibility Hub, provides comprehensive information on accessible accommodation and experiences catering to delegates with mobility and other special needs, positioning Cairns as an accessible city for all delegates.
Experience the new Cairns & Great Barrier Reef, where we know that “surrounding your team with great, makes your business greater.”Â
