All eyes are on Sonesta, which, despite the pandemic, has added more than 100 properties across the country, growing its portfolio by 350 percent.
Sonesta International Hotels Corporation announced the addition of 102 properties to its global hotel portfolio. 99 of the hotels have already been reflagged as Sonesta on December 1, and the three remaining hotels, located in Canada and Puerto Rico, will be reflagged later this month.
These include the company’s existing hotel brands for meetings: Royal Sonesta and Sonesta Hotels and Resorts, as well as all-suite and extended-stay properties.
As a result of this expansion, Sonesta will be introduced in over a dozen new North American cities, including Denver, Milwaukee, Portland, San Juan, Seattle, Toronto and Washington, DC.
The expansion also includes an extended presence in a number of U.S. cities and states, including Atlanta, where 7 new hotels were added, increasing Sonesta’s presence to 12 total hotels in the greater Atlanta area; Chicago, where 7 new hotels were added, including a property on the Chicago River and in the West Loop, increasing its presence to 12 total hotels in the area; and Florida, where 6 new properties were added.
The expansion makes Sonesta one of the fastest growing hospitality companies in the U.S., and grows its portfolio by almost 350 percent, now operating nearly 300 properties in the U.S., Canada, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Egypt, Peru and St. Maarten.
