MPI has announced that its 2025 European Meetings & Events Conference (EMEC) will be heading to Istanbul, Turkey, for the first time in a decade.

Meetings Professionals International (MPI) will be taking its 2025 European Meetings & Events Conference (EMEC 2025) to Istanbul, Turkey, Feb. 22-25. It’s the first time EMEC will be held in Istanbul since 2014.

MPI has a global membership of 13,000, 1,000 of whom are based in Europe, the Middle East and Asia (EMEA) — the target audience for the event. The meeting industry organization also has 10 chapters and clubs in Europe, and the 2025 EMEC will be the 37th held for geographic market niche. MPI anticipates it will draw between 300 and 400 global meeting and incentive professionals to the event.

EMEC’s format, which has received several awards, is designed by Europeans for Europeans. It is intended to serve as an idea incubator for the global MICE community while also reflecting the culture, history and heritage of its host destination. Istanbul’s location bridging Europe and Asia also is expected to bring a unique flair to the event. Registration for EMEC Türkiye officially went live on September 26.

“Returning to Istanbul after more than a decade is not only a testament to the city’s enduring appeal but also a clear indicator of the excitement and popularity surrounding this iconic destination,” said Paul Van Deventer, President and CEO of MPI. “Istanbul offers a unique blend of tradition and modernity that resonates with our international audience, and we are thrilled to bring EMEC back to this vibrant city.”

Istanbul is equally thrilled to showcase the destination to the global meetings, incentives, convention and exhibitions industry — and to demonstrate what it can do for other meetings and events that choose to come and experience its history and culture. Ismail Bütün, General Manager of the Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA), said, “Hosting EMEC 2025 is a monumental opportunity for Türkiye to showcase its position on the global MICE stage. Istanbul has a proven track record of hosting large-scale international events, and EMEC’s return highlights our commitment to growing and evolving as a premier destination for meetings and events professionals.”

Expectations are that the bar will be set high for destinations vying to host future MPI’s future EMEC events. The organization expects to be issuing a request for proposals soon for destinations throughout the EMEA region to host its 2026 and 2027 events.
