The State of California is reminding meeting and event planners that their continued support of Los Angeles is crucial to the city’s recovery following last month’s devasting wildfires.
Visit California President & CEO Caroline Beteta today issued the following statement on how the meetings and events industry can help support the recovery of Los Angeles:
“Los Angeles is open for business. With 98 percent of the county not directly impacted by the fires, the iconic event venues, world-class hotels, thrilling attractions and diverse neighborhoods the world knows and loves are ready to welcome groups of all sizes.
“Hosting a meeting, conference or event in the region supports thousands of local businesses and the more than half a million Angelenos whose livelihoods depend on them.
“One out of five California tourism-related jobs are in Los Angeles County, highlighting just how vital the tourism industry is to the region’s economy and recovery efforts.
“The economic impacts of these wildfires are already becoming increasingly evident, but the meetings and events industry can help support the city’s recovery by continuing to bring business to the City of Angels.
“Keeping – and expanding – business in Los Angeles will give the city the tourism boost it needs, helping to avert an economic crisis.
“Now is the time to host your event, support our communities and help show the world the enduring spirit of Los Angeles.”
Los Angeles Tourism Urges Planners to Continue Booking
In addition, the CEO of Los Angeles Tourism is encouraging planners to keep the city in their plans for 2025 and beyond.
“Tourism is one of LA’s leading industries, and meetings and events play a vitally important role in supporting the livelihoods of more than 540,000 Angelenos and more than 1,000 local businesses,” said Adam Burke, President & CEO, Los Angeles Tourism. “Continuing to welcome guests to our City of Angels has never been more important to our community and directly supports recovery efforts. While our hotels, venues, and attractions continue to provide exceptional experiences, we ask visitors to be mindful of impacted areas and to travel responsibly.”
