Action-Packed Teambuilding Creates Bonds

Zip lining is great for teambuilding.

Planners are on a constant quest for teambuilding ideas to make their events different, exciting, and memorable. One way to check all of those boxes is to add adrenaline into the overall meeting and teambuilding experience. Action-packed activities not only support attendee engagement but also help to break the ice and encourage comradery among peers.  These types of adrenaline-inducing meeting experiences can also help to get groups outdoors and moving. Here are four ways to plan an adrenaline-infused meeting.

Find Balance

Thrill means something different to everyone, and successful planners recognize the fact that one size does not fit all when it comes to teambuilding activities.  Planner should consider attendee preferences and abilities and provide a range of options from high-impact to low-impact options.  For example, I’ve seen groups set up a rock-climbing wall on-site, with a low-impact ground-level ropes course stationed right next to it.  This option worked well as attendees were able to select what activity worked best for them individually while still taking part in the experience together as one cohesive group.

Incorporate Activities with a Sense of Place that Everyone Can Enjoy

Planners should also consider coordinating exciting activities that do not require a specific skill set or physical fitness level to achieve.  Groups meeting at Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort & Spa can take part in everything from a zip line excursion and an airboat ride down the Colorado River, to guided UTV adventures that trek through the more than 18 miles of trails that sit adjacent to the property at McKinney Roughs Nature Park.  All of these activities showcase the local scenery of the destination in a unique and stimulating way that everyone can enjoy.

Over-Inform Attendees

Once you decide on the activities for a meeting, it is essential to provide attendees with the full details of each experience and suggestions on how they can be best prepared.  This will help to ensure guests pack the property clothing, shoes, and items such as sunscreen or hats, and also allows them to prepare for more adrenaline-inducing activities mentally.  By providing attendees ample information, they are sure to arrive prepared and excited to take part in the memorable experience.

Think Outside the Box

Some of the best action-packed and exciting activities I’ve seen are not necessarily as extreme as one might think, and instead include a lot of creativity and competition.  For example, one of the most unique and impactful experiences I’ve seen was a group that required attendees to complete an “Amazing Race” style scavenger hunt to get their registration badge.  Attendees hurried around the resort riding bikes, making moonshine margaritas and s’mores, and finding and taking pictures with our animal mascots.  The activity was an excellent way for guests to not only take part in friendly competition with their peers but also get a lay of the land for their meeting and a preview to some of the resort amenities that would be available to them during their experience.
