2022 Meetings Industry Events

The roster of 2022 meetings industry events is beginning to coalesce. As we get back to meeting in person, here are a few key dates and destinations to pencil in now before your 2022 calendar gets too crowded.

2022 is shaping up to be a busy one for meetings and events industry professionals who want to hone their skills, learn some new ones, and network. While details for some are still under development, here is a preview of some of the 2022 meetings industry events you may want to check out as we begin to meet again face to face.

January 2022 Meetings Industry Events

PCMA Convening Leaders — Organized by the Professional Convention Management Association, Convening Leaders is scheduled for January 9–12, 2022 at the CAESARS FORUM in Las Vegas. While some health and safety protocols are still to be determined based on local conditions closer in, PCMA recently announced that proof of vaccination will be required for all participants and staff. Check the website for details as the dates get closer. PCMA also will be providing a digital option for those unable to be vaccinated or who cannot travel to Las Vegas, details to come later this fall

A few highlights include a keynote by Matteo Salvatto, Head of Innovation, ORT Schools and CEO of Asteroid Technologies, and the Party with a Purpose ticketed event, which raises funds for the PCMA Education Foundation and a local charity.

SITE Global Conference — Organized by SITE, this conference is scheduled to be held Jan. 27–31, 2022, in Dublin, Ireland.

Prevue Visionary Summit: Survival Strategies for 2022 — This Summit, coming Jan. 16–17 to the Hilton Dallas/Plano at Granite Park, Plano, Texas, will focus on topics that are front of mind for meeting planners in this challenging climate: hotel compression, contracts, meeting safety and more.

April 2022 Meetings Industry Events

Global Meetings Industry Day — GMID is held every April to discuss the most pressing meetings industry issues of the day, which in 2022 likely will include implementing post-pandemic safety measures, hybrid events, vaccination requirements, and the recovery of meetings and events once the pandemic wanes. Details have yet to be determined, but you can get a feel for what the event likely will entail by visiting the Meetings Mean Business website for the 2021 event.

IMEX Frankfurt, organized by the IMEX Group, is on the books for April 26–28, 2022 at Messe Frankfurt in Frankfurt, Germany. Among the featured educational sessions are the Agency Directors Forum for small to mid-sized independent agencies; the Association Focus for association executives; Exclusively Corporate for corporate executives; and She Means Business to cover issues for women in business and events. Among the fundraisers and awards ceremonies will be SITE Nite Europe, which raises funds for the SITE Foundation; and a Gala Dinner to honor the Paul Flackett IMEX Academy Award winners.

May 2022 Meetings Industry Events

Prevue Visionary Summit: Inspired Events Summit — Scheduled to be held May 2–3 at The Ben, Autograph Collection in West Palm Beach, Fla., this Summit will feature experts who will share tips on how to design more meaningful meetings and incentives by tapping into authentic local experiences, inspiring creativity among attendees and giving back to the community.

June 2022 Meetings Industry Events

IRF Invitational — The Incentive Research Foundation’s flagship event, scheduled for June 1–4, 2022, will be held at the Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana, Dominican Republic. Among the highlights attendees can expect:

  • An IRF update and overview of Vision 2025, followed by the top trends according to IRF’s research
  • Educational and motivational presentations by Jonathan Spero, MD, InHouse Physicians; industry attorney Joshua Grimes, with IRF Vice Chair Jim Kelley; Artist Phil Hansen; and classical pianist and motivational speaker Jade Simmons. The event also will include the IRF Live and Silent Auctions to raise money for continuing IRF research and education.

MPI World Education Congress and 50th Anniversary Celebration — Meeting Professionals International is celebrating its 50th anniversary on June 21–23 at the Moscone Center, San Francisco. While details are not yet available, expect San Francisco and MPI to pull out all the stops to make WEC’s 2022 edition a special one.

FICP 2022 Educational Forum — This highly regarded Forum, organized by Financial and Insurance Conference Professionals and scheduled for June 22–24, 2022 at The Langham Huntington in Pasadena, Calif., has been noted for its high-quality education and super-charged networking. Details will be available closer in to the event.

August 2022 Meetings Industry Events

ASAE Annual Meeting & Exposition 2022 — Stay tuned to learn more as we get closer to the late summer dates for the ASAE Annual Meeting, organized by the American Society of Association Executives and scheduled for Aug. 20–23, 2022, at the Music City Center, Nashville.

October 2022 Meetings Industry Events

FICP 2022 Annual Conference — The FICP Annual Conference will be held Oct. 1–2 at the Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport in Boston.

IMEX America 2022 — Not much is yet available on what to expect at next year’s IMEX America, which will be held at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas Oct. 25–27, as this year’s show is still ramping up, but you can expect it will, as always, include a bustling trade show floor and a robust hosted buyers program, hundreds of educational sessions, and Smart Monday, powered by MPI.
