One of the event industry’s favorite event tech geeks joins Bizzabo as head of Klik, the company’s wearable event tech smart badge technology.
Will Curran has spent the past 15 years developing community and evangelizing the coolest in event technology through #EventIcons, Event Brew and the Event Tech podcasts, so it’s not surprising that event tech company Bizzabo has tapped the Founder and CEO of Endless Events to lead its Klik event smart badge technology.
As Bizzabo CMO and Cofounder Alon Alroy said, “Will has produced innovative, community-centric events for over a decade, working with forward-thinking brands such as Amazon, Google, Anheuser-Busch, Warner Brothers, Louis Vuitton, and Uber. His rich experience in events and community building makes him the ideal person to lead Klik as we continue to innovate the in-person event tech space.”
So what is it about this smart badge that, well, Kliked with Curran? As he said in a LinkedIn post announcing his new position, Klik “is one of the few event technologies that truly allow events to level up using data and engagement. I’ve been a fan of the product since I first had Charles on my podcast, and then experiencing the technology at C2 Montreal…Now that it can connect to any existing platform, it also has the Experience OS to go with it. When I talk about technology that will change events, this is it, people!”
Klik is an interactive smart badge designed to enable event attendees, sponsors and exhibitors to exchange contact information by just touching a button, but what makes it unique is the smart badge’s system of colored lights that can be used for just about anything, from identifying different groups to flashing a five-minute warning to providing custom light cues during keynotes.
The brandable badges also enable sponsors and exhibitors to capture and retrieve leads with a single tap, as well as offer downloadable content, the ability to view analytics in real time, access a live heatmap to see where and how attendees are engaging on the show floor, and check attendees in at registration and for individual sessions. It also includes gamification features to help drive traffic to sponsor activations and exhibitor booths. And, for event organizers looking to make their events more sustainable, the hardware that powers the badges can be collected and refurbished for future use, and the badges themselves come in recyclable options.
The tech, which will be used by more than 10,000 marketers and business pros at Hubspot’s upcoming INBOUND INBOUND event in Boston and the Elevate Festival in Toronto, now includes Klik à la Carte so show organizers can integrate Klik SmartBadges, the Klik Exhibitor App and the Klik Analytics Dashboard into any event registration system.
