Hollywood has always played its part in producing unbelievable movie stunts that beg the question: Did someone actually do that?
Believe it or not, there are several actors who actually perform their own stunts. Event planners can create a similar kind of intrigue at events, organizing full-fledge event stunts or theatrics to impress attendees. Here are three movie scenes that encourage planners to do just that.
Tom Cruise Runs Down the Burj Khalifa
In “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol,” Tom Cruise not only climbed, but also ran down the glass exterior of the 2,723-foot-tall Burj Khalifa, the tallest structure ever built. In 2012, the Revere Hotel Boston Common formed a similar stunt by opening with a vertical fashion show down the building’s façade. Aerial dances and other acrobatics are other ways to take events to new heights, so to speak.
Kristen Stewart Overcomes Her Fear of Horses
Kristen Stewart had a fear of horses until performing her own action scenes in “Snow White and the Huntsman.” Unlike Stewart, most people love animals, which is why bringing large animals such as horses, elephants and the like into a meeting can provide an element of surprise. At the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess in Arizona, attendees can grab a beer from the beverage burro, which provides a lively photo opp at receptions.
Steve McQueen Races Motorcycles & Cars
“Bullitt” and “The Great Escape” will go down in history as two of the best motorcycle and racecar driving scenes in Hollywood, thanks to Steve McQueen’s love of performing these type of stunts. In “The Great Escape,” he even performed the stunt for the German soldier chasing his own character in the movie, which was later edited to feature both stunts by McQueen on the same screen. Needless to say, car racing or simply having sporty cars at events adds a certain element of action. At the Audi FIS Ski Cross World Cup at Blue Mountain Resort in Collingwood, Ontario this last March, event organizers created a way for event sponsor Audi Canada to create a ski jump that embedded an Audi vehicle.
