At properties across the country, art has taken on an interactive approach for groups in the same way that food has in recent years.
Here are three interactive art programs that go beyond the typical artist partnership and allow attendees to spark some inner creativity.
Palmetto Bluff Artisan Residencies
Palmetto Bluff, home to Montage Palmetto Bluff Resort in South Carolina Lowcountry, recently built an Artists’ Cottage so a monthly rotation of artists can enjoy two-week residencies. During their stay, the artists will interact with groups staying in the community through workshops, classes and musical performances. The 2017 artist lineup includes everyone from banjo and wooden paddle board makers to creamery and cocktail connoisseurs.
Interactive Art at Andaz Scottsdale
Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Spa, located in Arizona, is entwined with the circa-1930s Cattle Track Arts Compound, a haven for artists, jewelers, potters, blacksmiths and printers. The property recently partnered with compound artists to provide everything from mugs to wall art for the resort, and that even includes engaging with hotel guests. The artists will even work with groups, offering studio tours as well as interactive art experiences both on the property and back at the artists’ private studios.
Snowshoeing for Art in Lake Tahoe
Groups can rent out townhouses at Mountainside at Northstar in Lake Tahoe, Calif., and work with this year’s resident artist Zaria Forman, who is living in the community’s Rendezvous Cabin as she works on a large-scale piece. Attendees can visit her during the interactive studios and are even encouraged to snowshoe up to the cabin to meet Zaria as she works on her creation.
