As the Monte Carlo Resort and Casino transforms into the Park MGM later this fall, MGM Resorts International is planning something for groups as well: a nontraditional conference space to inspire creativity and wellness.

Ideal for smaller groups of 5,000 attendees or less, the modern conference space will total 77,000 sf with 43 meeting rooms, and is set to debut in October. Natural light will fill the second-floor meeting rooms, while private outdoor meeting space will also provide an idyllic setting on the 4,345-sf Central Park Terrace.

The conference space’s real highlights, however, will be the Executive Meeting Center (EMC) and Ideation Labs opening at the beginning of 2018. The EMC will include 10 separate rooms with varying layouts setup for classroom training, product seminars and 10- to 50-person workshops. Moveable furniture and a shared pantry setup between the spaces will give the EMC a relaxed feel that’s both efficient and effective. Similarly, Park MGM’s seven Ideation Labs for groups up to 25 will feature furniture that encourages movement and collaboration during a meeting. Integrated displays in all the labs will also allow users to connect seamlessly.

“Simple aspects like the height of tables, the design of hub spaces and the ability to easily move and co-mingle are essential to [the Idea Lab] environment,” says Michael Dominguez, senior vice president and chief sales officer for MGM Resorts International. “We are also working with key partners to power the technology aspect of the environment, but we are careful to remember that we are creating a space that is high tech and also very high touch. In addition to the physical unique space we are creating, we also are working with key partners that will be equipped to help with off-the-shelf module content programming to assist as well as provide the ability for customization.”

Wellness is also top of mind for groups meeting in the conference space, as Park MGM plans to dedicate 37,700 sf of the space to the Stay Well program. Air purification systems, biophilia design elements, natural light, access to Cleveland Clinic Wellness programs and healthy menus will all be available for groups meeting in the program spaces. Even access to a personal well being mobile app will be available for groups looking to participate in group exercises and meditations.
