Banyan Tree Valle de Guadalupe Resort, Spa and Winery

Mexico just keeps adding incentive offerings, and here are 5 more for 2022.

These five new properties in Mexico will offer your incentive qualifiers experiences ranging from winemaking to cultural immersion with locals, to spa time that will have them returning home renewed.

1. Banyan Tree Valle De Guadalupe Resort, Spa and Winery

Expected to open summer 2023 is the new Banyan Tree Valle de Guadalupe Resort, Spa and Winery on the hills of Mexico’s food and wine region in Baja California. The ultra-luxury 30-villa resort will mark Banyan Tree Group’s fourth hotel in Mexico.

The property will sit on about 39 acres of land, and will be the brand’s first proprietary winery featuring vineyards, rooms for fermentation, barreling and aging, a winemaking laboratory, tasting room and underground cellar. There will also be five food and beverage venues including a terrace restaurant, fine-dining eatery, cocktail bar, coffee house and a hilltop rooftop concept featuring views of the valley.

In addition, on the food and spa menus, guests will be able to spot seven varieties of medicinal plants indigenous to the area such as hoja santa and white sage, that were grown steps away at its onsite bio-endemic garden sanctuary, as well as freshly pressed olive oil that is harvested and produced at the winery itself. And Banyan Tree’s signature spa is comprised of four treatment rooms, a sauna, a fitness center and both indoor and outdoor swimming pools.

2. ME Cabo

The all-new ME Cabo has reopened after undergoing a $10 million transformation that includes guest rooms and public spaces, F&B outlets and a new rooftop bar and lounge, in partnership with Rosa Negra.

Located on Los Cabos’ only swimmable beach, and overlooking “El Arco,” the property features an open-air arrival experience, and has partnered with Mexican restaurant group Grupo Rosa Nega to debut four new culinary hotspots: Confessions Skybar & Tapas, Taboo Beach Club & Restaurant, Funky Geisha and Mamazzita Mexican Soul. The new culinary concepts are dedicated to serving locally sourced produce and ingredients that explore Latin American cuisine. However, Funky Geisha will serve Thai, Chinese and Japanese inspired dishes, and Taboo Beach Club offers Mediterranean-inspired dishes.

All 170 guest rooms have been remodeled to embrace traditional Mexican design, boasting an eclectic feel, mixing rustic wood furnishings with bright, vivid colors. Rooms range from 425 to 3,000 sq. ft. and feature a private balcony or terrance with garden or ocean views, rainfall showers, fully stocked Maxibar and integrated room technologies. Guests seeking a more personalized, premium experience can reserve a ME+ suite. This upgraded suite experience includes access to the highest suite categories, a personalized room escort, followed by private, in-room check-in and arrival cocktail, extra in-room amenities including an interactive HDTV and Bluetooth sound bar, a complimentary Bali bed at Taboo Beach Club each day of the stay, and personalized services from ME Cabo’s Aura team.

ME Cabo also reopens with a new spa and wellbeing experience—the KORPO Wellness Experience that offers a blend of beauty treatments, relaxation techniques and fitness facility.

3. Etereo, Auberge Resorts Collection

The Auberge Resorts Collection will be opening the new Etereo in December. The luxury resort will be located within the new luxury Kanai development and just 30 miles from Cancun International Airport.

The property’s guest rooms will all be oceanfront or oceanview and offer soaking tubs and private plunge pools. Onsite amenities include five restaurants, two pools, a kids’ club and experiences that take travelers to explore the Yucatan Peninsula. These experiences can range from exploring nature to spending time with local artisans and learning about their craft. And, the onsite Sana, An Auberge Spa will offer treatments inspired by ancient practices in combination with modern wellness trends.

3. Viva Wyndham Azteca

The recently reopened Viva Wyndham Azteca, which opened its doors in November, is located in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. The all-inclusive oceanfront property updated its guest rooms including Superior Rooms, the lobby and public areas now offer new decor, and a full renovation was also done to the snack bar as well as the onsite restaurants—El Nopal Buffet and Il Palco Italian.

The property also offers an entertainment lineup that features live shows and performances, as well as activities that range from non-motorized watersports to a weekly handicrafts market, Mexican cooking classes, dance lessons, theme parties and more. Parents will want to know that there is also childcare activities and a new kid’s pool experience.

Guests will also have access to the amenities at the sister property Viva Wyndham Maya, which is located next door.

4. Hilton Cancun, An All-Inclusive Resort

Located in Riviera Maya, the new Hilton Cancun, an All-Inclusive Resort, is now open. Featuring 715 guest rooms and suties, the property also offers a pool complex with a Splash Pool, tailored wellness options and entertainment.

The guestrooms provide travelers with the choice of king beds or dual-queen beds and feature furnished balconies, while premium suites offer guests ocean views as well as dining and living room spaces. Select premium suites also feature swim-up patios for the ultimate private outdoor experience. Larger oceanfront and Presidential Suites include a private chef’s kitchens and larger dining areas to accommodate groups and private in-room culinary adventures.

Guests will also find 12 onsite dining experiences including Mexican fare at Maxal, La Luce Restaurant set around a traditional wood-fired pizza oven and serving Mediterranean classics, Sunan serving Southeast Asia fare, and Vela, a lounge located steps from the beach, plus there will also be an ice cream and churro shop and a taqueria with a mescal and tequila bar.

The private Splash pool features fun slides, beach games and water toys as well as a pool with lounge chairs; there are also two additional oceanfront pools with private cabanas. And the kids’ club and teen zone provide a climbing wall and crafts sections. Musical concerts, performances and shows will also be presented at the hotel’s amphitheater. Plus, guests have access to the Waldorf Astoria Spa at the neighboring Waldorf Astoria Cancun, which is slated to open fall 2022.
