Good news for meeting planners seeking another luxury option in Egypt: Hilton plans to bring its first Waldorf Astoria hotel to Africa later this year as part of the Heliopolis Hotel & Towers Luxury Hotel complex in Cairo.
The complex is made up of the recently debuted 593-room Hilton Cairo Heliopolis and the 247-room Tower Luxury Hotel, which will be rebranded as Waldorf Astoria Cairo by the end of the year. As part of the rebrand, the property’s guest rooms will undergo a redesign to reflect the traditions of Egyptian hospitality. The atrium lobby will also be refreshed, and a destination spa will be added as well.
The dual-branded complex will accommodate groups in its two ballrooms and 12 meeting rooms, while its two swimming pools, tennis and squash courts, fitness center and health club will entertain attendees in between sessions. With 17 dining and entertainment options onsite, attendees will be able to choose from Asian cuisine at Lan Tania or traditional Lebanese fare at Al Dabke. Indian and Mexican restaurants, a pool bar, French patisserie and an English pub add to the diverse offerings as well as an Egyptian restaurant that features barbecued entrees and live entertainment.
The hotel’s premiere location in Heliopolis, a district in Cairo known for housing Egypt’s diplomatic and presidential offices, is also convenient to the airport and nearby tourist attractions such as the Cairo Citadel, Egyptian Museum and The Great Pyramids (about an hour’s drive away).
