Royal Caribbean International’s Navigator of the Seas has arrived to its new homeport of Miami, Fla. following a $115 million reimagining.

The 3,386-guest ship began its first sail to the Caribbean on March 1, 2019 and will sail 5- and 9-night Caribbean itineraries through May 2019. The ship will then set course for The Bahamas with 3-night weekend and 4-night weekday cruises, including visits to the cruise line’s private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay.

$1 Billion Investment

Navigator of the Seas is the third ship to be reimagined as part of the Royal Amplified modernization program. The cruise line has invested more than $1 billion in upgrading ten of its ships across four years, and the modernization will touch on every facet of the guest experience.

“We have really dialed up the adventure and Caribbean vibes in ways that will make Navigator of the Seas the ultimate getaway to take from Miami,” said Michael Bayley, president and CEO, Royal Caribbean International in a press release. “Independence and Mariner of the Seas, the first two modernized ships in our Royal Amplified program, have quickly become standout hits, and Navigator builds on this momentum with a combination of new, exciting features and signature Royal Caribbean offerings that will surprise and delight guests cruising with us for the first time and those who have vacationed with us before.”

Adrenaline-inducing Experiences

New features include The Blaster, the cruise line’s first aqua coaster and the longest waterslide at sea, boasting more than 800 feet of dips, drops and straightaways that extend over the side of the ship. As well as Riptide, the industry’s only headfirst mat racer waterslide, which features a translucent tube for endless ocean views. To Dry For will be the first standalone blow-dry bar at sea, offering blow drys, hairstyling and other services; and a reimagined Caribbean resort-style poolscape will add more pool options including a Splash Pad for tots and poolside dining such as Johnny Rockets Express and Mexican “street fare” at El Loco Fresh.

Beginning in May 2019, Navigator of the Seas will visit Perfect Day at CocoCay on each of its Caribbean sailings. The private island is the first in Royal Caribbean’s Perfect Day Island Collection of destinations around the world. It is set to undergo a $250 million transformation that will include new adventures and amenities such as Thrill Waterpark, featuring Daredevil’s Peak – the tallest waterslide in North America. The island will also feature Oasis Lagoon, the Caribbean’s largest freshwater pool; and Up, Up and Away, a helium balloon experience that floats up to 450 feet in the air.
