The innovation begins at check-in at the 454-room TRS Yucatan, which opened in November 2017 following a $35 million reimagining of its previous incarnation as a Grand Palladium resort. Water is poured from a jug on to a tiny white cube presented on a black tray, which causes it to swell in size and transform into a refreshing cold towel. A welcome glass of champagne is offered, as you are fitted with the comfortable waterproof canvas wristband that doubles as your room key and all-inclusive pass.
In-Room Tech
The rooms are designed to impress, with floor-to-ceiling mirrors and windows, stylish furnishing and neutral tones throughout. Within minutes of opening the door, a personal butler appeared to offer a choice of aromatherapy diffuser and to explain the in-room tech. Thoughtful features include an electronic ‘do not disturb’ button that alerts housekeeping to your request, a power source inside the room’s safe that lets you charge devices while you are out, and a master switch near the bed that turns off all the lights with a single button.
A 40″ widescreen smart TV can synch with personal devices so guests can sign into their own media channels and mirror the apps on their phone, and the TV can also be used to access the hotel’s own app from which you can order room service or send a request to your attentive 24-hour butler. At the touch of a button you can order up a meal or cocktail, schedule a golf cart to transport you around the resort, or even arrange for your butler to fill up the jacuzzi while you’re out so that it’s ready and waiting on your return. As part of the resort’s ‘Infinite Indulgence’ program, a fully stocked mini-bar is also complemented by four premium bottles of liquor in the room that can be customized on request, and all guest preferences are kept on record for future visits.
Customized Meetings

The property boasts several swimming pools, including a three-tier heated infinity pool facing the ocean, a private pool, and a unique salt-water pool that is filled directly from the sea. Located nearby is a swimming beach shared by the adjoining Grand Palladium properties, which has its own exclusive-use TRS Yucatan private section featuring a bar, loungers and luxury day beds.
Immersive Excursions
Our stay at the resort concluded with an off-property excursion to visit the ancient Mayan ruins of Coba. On the way, the informative tour guide gave us an outline of Mayan history and culture, and we were then shown several temples around the complex dating from AD 600-900. The tour concluded with the opportunity to climb 130 steps to the top of the site’s largest temple pyramid that offered stunning views of the surrounding jungle and ruined temples, as well as some unique photo opportunities.
