The Sierra Nevada mountain range can play backdrop to some pretty cool wellness in the woods experiences.

Look to local resorts to make them happen. Here are two of our top picks for mountain meetings with built-in wellness experiences that send attendees off into the wild green yonder.

Granlibakken Tahoe

The Tahoe City resort leverages local yoga instructors, healers and energy workers through a “Restorative Arts and Yoga” festival in early June with mandala painting, shinrin-yoku (forest bathing), drum circles and AcroYoga (combining yoga, acrobatics and Thai massage), among other things, and “Wellness Weekend” in November, featuring sessions on qigong (energy healing), pain and neurophysiology and mood food. Customized mind, body and soul retreats can also be arranged for meetings and incentives groups across the property’s 24,500 sf of indoor-outdoor meeting space, or groups can join in on “Sustainable Earth Yoga Retreats” year-round. Granlibakken’s Lighthouse Spa Mountainside, surrounded by 74 acres, is yet another wellness perk that is sure to revive exhausted execs through hot stone therapy massage, aromatherapy body wraps and other nature infused treatments.

Tenaya Lodge At Yosemite

Attendees can build their own spa retreats that utilize local flora from the surrounding Yosemite-Sierra region at Tenaya Lodge At Yosemite’s Ascent Spa. Treatments may include everything from an amethyst, quartz or river rock massages to wildflower, sage and dogwood facials. Wellness retreats include hiking and sunset yoga in Yosemite National Park, guided meditations, and painting and wine classes. Groups can sprawl out across 240 earthy rooms and suites—all recently renovated and with views of the pine-covered Sierra National Forest—and 57 cottages. Groups may also connect nature via snowshoe by starlight excursions, gold panning at Gold Rush City, guided rock climbing and a narrated steam train ride over turn of the century logging rails.
