When thinking of some of the most innovative destinations, Mexico isn’t usually on the top of the list.
But a range of forward-thinking conferences, renovations and even dining options are challenging this idea. Check out two of 2016’s most innovative properties in Mexico to see just how.
Dark Dining
The script is being flipped on all-inclusive gastronomy at the adults-only Grand Oasis Sens in Cancun. Groups can experience the dark dining trend at the Black Hole restaurant, the only of its kind in Cancun. Meanwhile, gourmet molecular gastronomy (blending the principles of physics and chemistry) is in full throttle at the Benazuza restaurant. Elsewhere in Oasis’ portfolio, the lobby of the newly renovated The Pyramid at Grand Oasis overflows with cirque-style entertainment, while the new Havana Night Club offers nightly cabaret-style shows reminiscent of 1950s Cuba. The club is adjacent to the plush Havana Cigar Bar, where groups can pair fine cigars with high-end spirits.
The Sun Shines on Moon Palace
This past June, Palace Resorts’ Moon Palace Golf & Spa Resort marked the spot for the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s (OECD) Ministerial Meeting on the Digital Economy: Innovation, Growth and Social Prosperity. The meeting brought together stakeholders from across the globe to discuss everything from digital innovation, building global connectivity and trust to job creation in the digital sector.
A $450 million transformation of its Moon Grand section, one of three distinct areas at Moon Palace, is sparking its own excitement. By the end of the year, more than 900 guest rooms, two adults-only swimming pools with poolside DJs, a six-lane bowling alley and more than 80,000 sf of meeting space will have been added to Moon Grand.
