This past weekend, the 942-room Resorts Casino Hotel, a Mohegan Sun Property, finalized the first phase of a $25 million room renovation project in Atlantic City, N.J. The hotel rooms in the Ocean Tower were completely renovated with new bathrooms, furniture, windows, window treatments, wallpaper, carpet and artwork—all in time for summer meetings.
This is the latest stage of more than $100 million in renovations that the hotel completed since 2012, when Mohegan Gaming Advisors assumed management of the property. Its new convention center, which opened in August 2015, is showing immediate returns, with a 30 percent increase in bookings compared to 2015. The $4.7 million convention space added 12,000 sf of meeting space for a total of 64,000 sf at the hotel, which includes two theaters and the Tower Conference Level.
In May 2013, the hotel also added a Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville Entertainment Complex, featuring both Margaritaville Café and LandShark Bar & Grill, the only year-round beach-side restaurant in Atlantic City. Both are available for private events. While the Margaritaville Café provides nightly live music, the hotel also hosts headliner acts—Blood, Sweat and Tears and Art Garfunkel, for instance, are playing this summer. It also features an 80,000-sf casino, 10 restaurants and an indoor-outdoor swimming pool.
The resort hotel will even work with meeting planners on an all-inclusive meeting package to include everything from meals to A/V requirements to Wi-Fi in one contract.
