The Convention Industry Council offers many hands-on resources for meeting planners.

APEX

The Convention Industry Council’s Accepted Practices Exchange (APEX) publishes best practices in many areas, including green meetings, high-speed internet access and eRFPs. It also created a comprehensive glossary of industry terminology.

Green Meetings Industry Council

The Green Meetings Industry Council (GMIC), now a council of the CIC, offers webinars on sustainability topics, everything from selecting sustainable venues to designing accessible events, along with a resource library, best practices and case studies.

CMP Certification

The CIC’s Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) program is the industry’s most respected certification. Its online portal includes all the resources planners need to prepare for certification, including a new online system where they  can log education credits. In 2014, CIC launched the CMP healthcare subspecialty (CMP-HC) specifically for meeting professionals in the healthcare industry. Learn more about how to get your CMP here.

Hall of Leaders

CIC also hosts the annual Hall of Leaders, which recognizes individuals for excellence, career achievement and inspiring change in the industry. In three decades, 119  industry pioneers have been inducted into this exclusive club. This year’s recipients will be chosen during IMEX on October 18 at Aria’s Jewel Nightclub.

Global Meetings Industry Day

CIC also organized the first-ever Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID) on April 14, 2016, in conjunction with Meetings Mean Business. The event showcased the impact that meetings, conferences, conventions, incentive travel, trade shows and exhibitions have on people, business and communities.
