The Collector Luxury Inn & Gardens

The soon-to-open Collector Luxury Inn & Gardens in St. Augustine, Fla., combines the comfort of AirBNB with the convenience and amenities of a hotel.

Set to debut on March 1, the charming property includes a set of nine buildings—seven of which are guest houses—that are repurposed from historic homes dating back to 1790. Ideal for smaller groups and executive retreats, the 30-bed inn will be popular for group buyouts because it essentially offers attendees their own compound, with outdoor fire pits and gardens to gather. Hardwood floors, breezy verandas, fireplaces and coquina walls make up the luxury touches in most of the guest rooms.

While the rooms provide a personal at-home feel, the complimentary European continental breakfast and evening wine and cheese reception will be a welcome addition for planners looking for amenities. Group team building options will also be available, including historic tours led by the inn’s resident historian, watercolor painting sessions and a mixology program. Attendees will especially appreciate the inn’s local highlights such as a signature roast from the local Third Wave Coffee and spirits from the St. Augustine Distillery. For groups looking to explore the area a bit, rental bikes will be available as well.

Once the home of the Dow Museum of Historic houses, the one-acre property also features Kenneth Dow’s personal art collection throughout its rooms and public spaces. Between its art and architecture, the inn helps to tell the history of America’s oldest city. For larger events, the hotel will be able to partner with local meeting and event space vendors to streamline off-site meetings for groups to further their exploration of this historic Florida destination.
