A mini gaming haven exists in Lake Charles, La., for meeting planners on a budget. In addition to meeting facilities, these three casino resort hotels in Southwest Louisiana offer groups gaming and entertainment options without having to leave the region.

Golden Nugget Lake Charles

Opened in December 2014, this 25-story hotel and casino is currently adding an additional hotel tower that will add 300 more rooms to the existing 740 by spring 2017. The massive resort features 30,000 sf of meeting and event space as well as eight restaurants, including Landry’s Seafood House, a local favorite offering Gulf seafood and traditional gumbos. In addition to the casino and spa, groups will also appreciate the property’s onsite golf course.

This other 1,000-room property can accommodate large groups in its 26,000 sf of meeting and event space. Plus, it’s 1,400-seat venue attracts big-name acts for groups interested in live entertainment, while its 165-seat Jack Daniel’s Bar & Grill hosts more low-key musical performances. It, too, offers attendees the opportunity to tee off on the only public Tom Fazio golf course in Louisiana.

Delta Downs Racetrack Casino & Hotel

In addition to 15,000 sf of casino space and five restaurants, Delta Downs’ main draw is its horse racing and grandstand center. Attendees can watch live racing or a simulcast from another track. A new pool and fitness center is also underway at the 240-acre casino hotel, situated amidst massive pine trees and scenic countryside near the Texas border.
