Hotel Nikko San Francisco has long attracted groups to the Bay Area for its Japanese design and central location near San Francisco’s Union Square, but a recent $60 million renovation now makes it even more appealing.
The new design takes on the Hotel Nikko’s Japanese heritage by creating a contemporary look inspired by the fluid lines from a traditional kimono. That theme encompasses 405 of the hotel’s 533 guest rooms and suites, which now feature marble bathrooms and a color palate of earthy tones, and extends into the lobby and public areas. It also continues into the revamped 6,652-sf ballroom, which features tall metal-cut wall screens that incorporate modern Japanese designs as well as crystal glass drop light chandeliers. Leaving the third floor, the 20 flexible meeting rooms on the hotel’s 25th floor now include the latest audiovisual equipment as part of the renovation.
The hotel’s signature ANZU restaurant is now open again as well, serving up the traditional California-inspired Japanese cuisine that it’s been known for since 1999. Attendees can expect signature dishes such as thinly sliced Wagyu beef cooked table side on a Japanese river stone. Other amenities at the property include a 10,000-sf health club and fitness center as well as a 140-seat live music venue and bar—perfect for groups to rent out for an evening soiree.
In February 2016, the hotel also reopened its revamped indoor pool with a glass atrium and adjoining outdoor terrace to include an outdoor grass dog run that makes the property more pet friendly.
