How fun are these? We profiled the 100-room Fullerton Bay Hotel in our recent On Location: Singapore story in our July/Aug 2013 issue. The hotel is the only hotel located directly over the water in Marina Bay—the large body of water in the center of the city encircled by all of the major meeting hotels, convention center and central business district. A special focus needs to be given to the three Floating Event Pods located in what were once three berths for visiting yachts. In 2012, Fullerton Bay inserted the 2-story Event Pods in their place, each fitted out with conference tables, full A/V, bar and bathrooms, and a balcony downstairs. Upstairs, the open-air deck makes a great private reception space with amazing views of the Bay, adjacent Clifford Pier and original Customs House, and majestic Marina Bay Sands Hotel. Planners can book the individual Pods—named Compass, Voyage and Port of Call—or buy out all three for larger simultaneous events. Capacity is 40 pax reception-style on each level. Direct ferry service is available from Fullerton Bay to the waterfront Louis Vuitton store and others at Marina Bay Sands. Additional meeting space inside the hotel includes the three boardrooms, The Landing Point and Clifford Restaurants, and one of our favorite rooftop pool/restaurants in the world, Lantern, hosting 180. Planners also have access to the meeting space at the sister Fullerton Hotel across the street, one of the great grand dame hotels of Asia. Here are some more photos of the Event Pods. The top photo is the view from the upper deck, with the Customs House on the left and Marina Bay Sands on the right.
