Cape Coral, Fla., just became a whole lot more meetings friendly with the recent opening of the 12,250-sf Tarpon Point Ballroom at The Westin Cape Coral Resort at Marina Village.

With the ballroom addition, updated guest rooms and new partnerships, groups have more reason than ever to visit this Southwest Florida resort. Here are three to get you started.

Largest Function Space in Cape Coral

Now home to the largest function space in Cape Coral, the 293-room property increased its total function space to 30,000 sf. While the ballroom can be divided into up to six smaller rooms, it also gives meeting planners the opportunity to take advantage of a 4,754-sf pre-function area and 1,728-sf terrace that overlooks the Caloosahatchee River estuary.

Refreshed Guest Rooms

Along with the ballroom, the property underwent a major makeover that renovated its guest rooms, increasing its capacity by 12 percent. With the group travel market in mind, the property converted its 30, two-bedroom suites overlooking the marina into one-bedroom suites and single-room units.

Sailing School Partnership

The resort started a recent partnership with Offshore Sailing School, which offers travel packages for groups or attendees departing from the 220-slip Tarpon Point Marina. While Corporate Sailing Events are all the rage for groups, other ways to get out on the water include fishing charters, private sightseeing charters, sunset crews and dolphin tours that get attendees up close to birds and manatees.
