Melbourne, Australia continues to attract groups in 2018 with a wide range of new group offerings.

Here are five that meeting planners should have on their radar for Melbourne in the new year.

Novotel Melbourne South Wharf

Opening in March, the 347-room Novotel Melbourne South Wharf will offer groups direct access to the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC). Its contemporary architecture blends well with Melbourne’s newest attractions, while still representing the history of the South Wharf’s maritime docks.

Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre Expansion

Speaking of the MCEC, its $205 million expansion is still on track for completion in mid-2018. The expansion adds about 215,278 sf of multipurpose space, increasing the venue’s total square footage to more than 753,473 and making it the largest convention space in Australia. Highlights include a 1,000-seat theater and an outdoor event courtyard as well as informal networking spaces.

RACV Cape Schanck Resort

The current RACV Cape Schanck Resort, located on the Mornington Peninsula, is undergoing a revamp set to debut in the middle of next year. The 200-room resort will tout a new conference center for groups up to 500. Walking tracks, tennis courts and a spa are just a few examples of the recreation and team building activities available onsite.

Marnong Estate

Melbourne’s wine region will soon see the opening of Marnong Estate in the middle of next year. The historic farm is situated on 1,100 acres and gives groups a glimpse into the operations that make a farm and vineyard run smoothly. Plus, there are four suites for small groups to stay overnight as well as enough space to house 250-person conferences or events.

Novotel & ibis Melbourne Little Lonsdale Street

Scheduled to open late next year, this dual-branded property will occupy one building, offering groups a wide assortment of accommodations. The 270-room ibis Melbourne Little Lonsdale Street will appeal to groups on a budget, while the 213-room Novotel Melbourne Little Lonsdale Street will appeal to more of the luxury market. Groups staying at either will benefit from the shared two restaurants and bars, and 10 meeting and event spaces.
