InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) is reinventing the Crowne Plaza brand with the launch of its new flagship property: Crowne Plaza HY36 Midtown Manhattan, located in New York.

The design-centric property caters to the business traveler and meeting attendee in that it features a New Modern industrial façade inspired by the Hudson Yard neighborhood’s surrounding transportation centers. Massive concrete columns extend the height of the atrium, complementing the five, 50-foot-tall light fixtures visible both indoors and out. The interiors throughout blend natural elements with vibrant colors. Even the guest rooms are designed to appease the on-the-go traveler with retractable bed lights, wireless charging stations and expansive work desks. Lastly, the property features complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the hotel with IHG Connect.

“As we reinvent the Crowne Plaza brand, we hope to adopt the flare and energy the up-and-coming Hudson Yard neighborhood attracts, while adding our own unique narrative,” says IHG Area General Manager Dieter Schmitz. “We will tap guests and New York’s iconic energy to help us recreate this authentic story via a refreshingly genuine and energizing guest experience unlike any other in New York City.”

The property also adopted the Crowne Plaza’s new Guest Love Essentials that include premium pillows, newly designed collateral and the MOMENTUM by Timo Weiland uniform collection for hotel team members. Foodie groups will appreciate TGA (The Great American) restaurant located on the ground floor. It offers high-end American fare in a casual space with 12-foot glass garage doors that open up into an outdoor patio and beer garden during warmer months.

Since the neighborhood is a transportation hub, that also means groups have easy access to Penn Station, Lincoln Tunnel and Grand Central Station, not to mention the Javits Center located just blocks away. However, groups can also stay put and use the hotel’s 1,290 sf of meeting space spread across two meeting rooms. The new hotel even offers a Daily Meetings Debrief that gives meeting planners an itemized daily list of expenses that help manage budget in real-time.
