A Hardhat Peek at the New W Las Vegas

During IMEX week, Prevue had a chance to take a hardhat tour of the new W Las Vegas.

The luxury boutique W Las Vegas will sit inside one tower of the SLS and include meeting space in a brand-new tower, located on the emerging northern side of the strip near the Stratosphere. The W will exude a desert oasis feel, beginning with the entrance through two huge gates—a sense of having arrived somewhere exclusive and very special. There’s no casino; instead, a living room and bar will be the focal point of the lobby. Interspersed will be cactuses and desert greenery, and the WET rooftop pool and bar have been designed to look out on the mountains in the distance. There’s not a sign of the Strip to be found, other than a sculpture of poker chips and walls decorated with playing card artwork.

The 289-room hotel will also feature 15,000 sq. ft. of brand-new meeting and event space (including two ballrooms) on three floors, available next February—the most meeting space of any W property. Even this will have a desert feel, with murals of the red rocks outside the meeting rooms. The hotel has also commissioned graffiti artists to create original works.

The W will also offer a 24-hour FIT exercise facility and the Away spa, and guest rooms will range from the 322-sf Wonderful Rooms to the indulgent 2,382-sf EWOW Suite, offering mountain views from the living room. Planners can also take advantage of SLS’s Las Vegas’ adjacent restaurants and 30,000 sf of meeting space. The 1,600-room Starwood resort recently became a Tribute Portfolio member.

Expect a soft opening of the hotel rooms on December 1 and the official grand opening in February 2017.
