Hyperlocal Culinary in Boston’s North End
Groups that want a hyperlocal culinary experience can embark on one of Michele Topor’s award-winning food tours into Boston’s North End. Topor’s walking cooking class reveals the culinary history of America’s oldest Italian community and lets groups in on secrets such as the best pasticcerias (pastry shops) for biscotti and cannoli, an authentic salumeria (delicatessen) selling olive oil, balsamic vinegar and imported cheese, and an old world spice and coffee vendor that has been in the neighborhood for over 70 years.
Getting in on the Action
Get Hands-On at the Action Kitchen in Boston’s Seaport Hotel & World Trade Center, located on Boston Harbor, boasts 428 guest rooms and more than 180,000 sf of meeting space, including seven ballrooms and an amphitheater. Its Tamo Bistro & Bar offers a menu inspired by the city’s famous ethnic neighborhoods and ingredients sourced from local New England farms. Groups seeking a more hands-on culinary experience can host their event at the hotel’s Action Kitchen. Award-winning chef Richard Rayment assists groups in preparing gourmet cuisine. The space welcomes groups of 24 to 40, and offers a choice of collaborative or competitive team building experiences.
Experimental Outdoor Spaces
The Boston Convention & Exhibit Center (BCEC) is the largest event space in the city with 516,000 sf of exhibit space, 82 meeting rooms and a 41,000-sf Grand Ballroom with views overlooking the harbor area. Next to the BCEC is the Lawn on D, an experimental event landscape. The nearly three-acre outdoor event space boasts interactive art exhibitions, unique colorful seating and lawn games such as bocce and ping-pong. The space can be hired for private events and offers two pavilions with free WiFi, lighting and sound capabilities, and access to all of the lawn games and amenities. Customizable food and beverage is available through Seaport Catering.
