The hotel scene is amping up in Southern California with new hotels coming to downtown Los Angeles and Orange County.
Here are three that either opened or are opening in this second half of the year, bringing more meeting opportunities for groups near and far.
InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown
Just opened this week, the 889-room InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown, located in the Wilshire Grand building, stands 73 stories tall in the heart of downtown. At 1,100 feet, it’s now the tallest building west of Chicago, and it shows that off the minute attendees check into the property’s sky lobby on the 70th floor. While it features almost 95,000 sf of its own meeting space, its prominent location within blocks of L.A. Live and the Staples Center also make it ideal for groups meeting at other popular L.A. venues. Top that off with a colorful rooftop that touts expansive views of the city and five dining experiences that offer a variety of experiences for groups to explore.
The Kimpton Everly
Situated at the foot of the Hollywood Hills, the 216-room Kimpton Everly opened in August in true Kimpton style, by mixing retro furniture with a contemporary palette of greens, blues and grays. The lobby’s 28-foot ceilings and all-glass Library room combine a feeling of openness and intimacy that extends into the other public spaces, including the Jane Q restaurant, 12-seat Ever Bar and even the property’s 10,000 sf of meeting space. Beyond the public spaces, the hotel highlights an active L.A. lifestyle with the fifth-floor rooftop pool and yoga classes available on the rooftop terrace.
Marriott Irvine Spectrum
Opening in December, the 271-room Marriott Irvine Spectrum will open within steps of the Irvine Spectrum Center shopping district and the nearby 1,300-acre Orange County Great Park. While it will bring 13,000 sf of indoor/outdoor meeting space to the Orange County meetings scene, its key highlight will be its design inspired by the historic Irvine Ranch. Heirloom, a restaurant, rooftop bar and lounge, will also make the perfect after-meeting rendezvous spot, serving up authentic California fare.
