The 517-room Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach encourages groups to have the quintessential California beach-bum experience while still getting work done via its “Take the Boardroom to the Beach” program. The property has direct access to the beach, which provides a convenient, outdoor space for breakout sessions.
Groups can move their entire meeting to the sand, using beach chairs, umbrellas, note pads and pens provided by the hotel. Angel Tassone, the property’s director of group sales, says groups often go for a walk in between or during meetings. They keep the walk productive by picking a topic to discuss new ideas that stem from the overarching theme of the meeting.
“For example, the company is trying to increase sales, and their teams need to develop new ways to reach their customers,” says Tassone. “They can go to the beach, where they may come up with a new innovative idea they hadn’t thought of before.”
With direct access to the beach, the property also provides on-site beach team building activities such as sandcastle building, tug-of-war and volleyball games and scavenger hunts. In addition to the property’s already 160,000 sf of meeting space—most of which fronts ocean views—the beach also provides another meeting space opportunity for everything from a casual lunch to a gala party.
