From sampling global cuisine to golfing on the first international PGA TOUR Academy, One&Only Resorts have got your group covered with their new line-up of location-inspired group experiences. With resorts in some of the most exotic destinations in the world, the company is offering an expert series for groups staying in the Maldives, Mexico, South Africa and Mauritius, each with a unique style, borne of each resort’s local culture.
Take the Maldives, for instance, where groups staying at the One&Only Reethi Rah can learn about food presentation and world cuisine from master chefs at the resort. Classes each hone in on one particular cuisine and offerings include Maldivian, Chinese, Italian, Indian, Arabian, Japanese “Washoku,” Thai and French. The class takes groups through the chef’s garden, where they are guided through the selection process and hand-pick the fresh ingredients they’ll require for their chosen course. Once groups are settled back into the cooking school, they are instructed on how to select the finest condiments ranging from oils and vinegars to wines and olives. Shortly after, groups prepare (and dine on) their signature creations, meticulously presented down to the tiniest detail. You don’t go home empty-handed either—each participant is provided with a certificate of completion, a recipe card and their very own One&Only Reethi Rah apron and chef’s cap.
Another drinking and dining option is found at One&Only Cape Town, home to a tri-level wine loft housing a collection of more than 5,000 local wine bottles. The Wine & Dine evenings are led by the resort’s head sommelier, Luvo Ntezo, famed as South Africa’s best young sommelier. Ntezo hosts groups up to 30 pax and throughout the course of the night the diners are guided through a tasting seminar and five-course meal prepared by celebrity chef Reuben Riffel.
Just South of the Border, One&Only Palmilla in Los Cabos spices up meetings in Mexico with a range of offerings including complimentary group sessions with a renowned Mexican musician and tee time at PGA TOUR’s first international academy.
Musician Antonio Zepeda uses Pre-Columbian instruments including the ocarina and conch shells to create harmonious sounds, teaching groups about the magic of harnessing the spiritual and physical benefits of sound. The sessions are complimentary for groups staying on property and the musical lessons focus on distinct realms of sound—each providing a different therapeutic benefit ranging from relaxation to a communion with nature. The hour-long sessions take place at dusk or dawn, on the resort’s pavilion which overlooks the majestic Sea of Cortez.
The resort also hosts groups of golfers to tee off at the PGA TOUR Academy’s par-72 Jack Nicklaus course. Beginners and veterans alike are encouraged to work on their game with personalized instruction from the nation’s most prestigious source of programs. One- to 3-day clinics are available, featuring a range of focuses and options. Try out their short-game clinics, guaranteed to reduce your scores.
The VIP KITE & Stand-up Paddle Boarding School at One&Only Le Saint Geran in Mauritius teaches groups about one of the most exhilarating sports in the world—kite surfing. Paddle boarding lessons are also available for surfers of all levels. The classes are led by the school’s owner, Julien Guillaume. Guillaume is an International Kite boarding Organisation (IKO) Level 2 senior and his team of highly-qualified instructors is on-hand for groups interested in private tutelage.
