Year after year, the business tourism generates a total revenue of 6.2 billion dollars, coupled with the 151,100 jobs created, of which 85 thousand are direct and 66 thousand indirect jobs, according to the Mexican Association Fairgrounds (AMEREF).
Both, the government and private industry, seek to position Mexico as one of the top destinations for business tourism worldwide. As part of the sector specialization, was held for fourth edition, the meeting between experts and buyers of MICE sector (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions): ICOMEX 2013.
From 6 to 8 November, the WTC Mexico City, was the focus for meeting and incentive travel planners. In over 7,500 m² was present: conferences and visitors bureaus (CVB’s), convention bureaus, ministries of tourism, convention centers, meeting rooms, DMC’s, corporate travel agencies, incentive houses, hotels, tour operators, meeting planners, among others. In this editionparticipated 28 national destinations such as Mazatlan, Querétaro, Oaxaca, Tijuana, San Luis Potosí, Hidalgo, Mexicali, León, Guanajuato, Chihuahua, Michoacán, Tlaxcala, Yucatán and 12 international destinations like Costa Rica, Argentina, Cuba, Jamaica, Bahamas, Las Vegas, San Francisco, among others.
This year, Colombia was the guest country of ICOMEX, and part of its participation, Mr. Excellency José Gabriel Ortiz Robledo, Ambassador of Colombia in Mexico attended the opening ceremony.
In addition, the event had an Event Production Zone, which offered the top companies and promotional items suppliers, booth design, audio, video, lighting, banquets, visitors registration, models, assistants, speakers, translators, printers, furniture, direct marketing, security, etc.
As part of the activities within ICOMEX 2013, was performed the Educational Program, comprised of eight specialized conferences:

• Assistants Excecutive Congress
ICOMEX performed a program for Hosted Buyers. Dynamic where, strategically, meetings were scheduled One on One within the exhibition floor, to generate business opportunities. Thus, in 2013 were managed to generate 3,985 business meetings with 158 national buyers and 92 international buyers evaluate new suppliers and destinations.
The expo is supported of various government agencies like the Department of Tourism and the Tourism Board of Mexico, as well as specialized associations in the sector as MPI Mexico, PCMA Mexico, GBTA Mexico, Latin America ICCA, SITE Mexico, AMPROFEC, AMDEM, AMEREF, IAEE, COCAL, ASAE, among others.
This meeting seeking growth professionalization and modernization of corporate tourism, opening its doors to industry professionals for free. This year ICOMEX had 5,150 meeting attendees, for next edition the organizers expect to exceed this number.
