Le Massif de Charlevoix

In September, the new Train of Le Massif de Charlevoix departed from Quebec City for the 80-mile journey east to the charming town of La Malbaie along the St. Lawrence River in Charlevoix. It’s been a while, but we took the same route about 10 years ago to celebrate the reopening of the 405-room Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu—the “Castle on the Cliff.”

We can still taste the Flemish beer and fresh mussels with pomme frites in this little wooden Belgian boite near a town called Pointe-au-Pic. That’s the selling point. The restored Pullman railcars deliver up to 528 pax into a mountain wilderness dotted with romantic farmhouses and Fairmont’s famous riverside spa for unforgettable off-the-map programs.
