We spoke with David Margolis of Grand Lucayan to learn how he combines culture & creativity into group programs.

What types of creative group programs or initiatives has your hotel/DMO/company implemented this year?

Here at the Grand Lucayan Bahamas we are offering All-inclusive and then some packages for our group client. As you will see from the attached, in addition to breakfast, lunch and dinner being included we are offering unlimited alcohol, and a $100.00 Per room travel credit. This is an excellent bundle for an extremely reasonable rate of only $189 pp per day based on double occupancy.

 Are there any examples of planners and groups using technology in new and creative ways?

In February of this year we acted as host to the largest Telecommunications Corporation in Europe: H3G from Milan Italy. What attracted this group to us was the excellent wireless internet connectivity that exists in the guestrooms, public areas and most importantly within the Grand Ballroom. There were 1,050 guests in attendance at this conference that took place between February 10-14th and not one complaint was received from the group regarding telephone and wireless internet connectivity available throughout the resort.

 What cultural experiences should planners consider in your destination?

First and foremost the warmth of the Bahamian people starts from the time the guests get off the airplane. Take a look at the Attached H3G slideshow you will see that the CEO of H3G was actually welcomed by the Prime Minister. Add to that a great Junkanoo Parade, a fire dancer, limbo, and a great party complete with local fare like cracked conch, and Bahama Mama’s  held oceanfront on our Great Lawn and you have all of the ingredients for a most enjoyable and memorable Bahamian experience.
