Meeting planners will be happy to know that The Islands of The Bahamas are still very much open for business, with a slew of new experiences to offer groups in 2018.
Here are five new happenings in The Bahamas that range from property openings to renovations to new activities for groups to enjoy.
Sip Sip Debuts at Atlantis Paradise Island Resort
Sip Sip will debut at Atlantis Paradise Island Resort’s The Cove next month as the famous Harbour Island restaurant’s first official outpost. Attendees will be able to feast on a “Caribterranean” menu at The Cove beach and pool, where new cabanas, day beds and chaise lounges are also incorporated into the mix. The resort also updated its Bahamian F&B experiences to include authentic fish fry events and craft beers from local breweries.
Baha Mar Opens More Properties
The resort destination of Baha Mar officially opened on Cable Beach in April with the debut of the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar. Two more hotels are scheduled to join: SLS Baha Mar next month and Rosewood Baha Mar next spring. Once completed, Baha Mar offer groups staying at any of the three properties amenities that include a massive casino, golf course, 30,000-sf ESPA spa and one of the largest convention centers in the Caribbean.
Melia Nassau Beach Resort Finishes Renovations
The 694-room Melia Nassau Beach Resort completed a three-year, $19 million renovation last spring that transformed the property. Its biggest highlight is the 102 rooms that were redesigned to be a part of Melia’s “The Level” elevated service concept—ideal for top-exec meeting attendees.
One&Only Ocean Club Reopens
Similarly, the One&Only Ocean Club reopened its doors in February after undergoing extensive renovations that included an expansion of all guest rooms and suites to improve ocean views for attendees. Updates to The Hartford Wing, Hardford Courtyard and a new Martini Bar helped round out the update.
Jack’s Bay Under Development
Jack’s Bay Developers are working with Tiger Wood’s TGR Design to develop a beachfront luxury resort and private club at Rock Sound on Eleuthera Island. As meeting planners probably already guessed, a Woods-designed, 10-hole golf course dubbed “The Playgrounds” and The Pink House Beach Club are scheduled to debut next year as part of the project’s first phase. In later phases, the course will be expanded to 18 holes and include oceanfront suites, cottages and villas.
