The 160-casita Boulders Resort & Spa, located amidst the famous boulder formations in Carefree, Ariz., continues to offer a fresher look for groups after completing a multimillion-dollar renovation in 2016 and another upgrade to its golf clubhouse this year.

Last year’s renovation updated the property’s Main Lodge to create a better sense of arrival for groups. Paying tribute to the area’s heritage, the space features a custom-designed reception desk made of inlaid wood that is decorated with Native American patterns, while hand-woven carpeting and furniture feature a desert-inspired palette. The property’s Palo Verde restaurant also underwent a makeover that now reflects its southwestern cuisine. The space incorporates modern décor and wood patchwork panels that also play off the colors of the surrounding landscape.

Meeting planners will be happy to know that this renovation include the new 5,500-sf Latilla Ballroom, which features floor-to-ceiling windows touting views of the property’s famous boulder formations in the backdrop. Even this meeting space incorporates bronze chandeliers inspired by the Native American sun symbol. Organic elements such as wooden doors and an adobe, wood-burning fireplace on the extended outdoor patio round out the space.

Continuing the renovation, this year brought on additional updates to the property’s golf clubhouse. Especially groups that enjoy golfing can appreciate the newly designed men’s and women’s locker rooms, while the 1,886 sf of meeting space at the Boulders Club was also enhanced to feature retractable glass walls that open onto an expanded terrace overlooking the property’s natural surroundings. The newly opened Grill Kitchen & Bar combines casual fare with sophisticated dining by offering everything from prime rib and seafood to nachos, and its expanded terrace offers seating for up to 85 attendees.
