Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts found its way into the hearts of meeting planners everywhere with the April launch of its Golden Circle Event Planner Rewards and Shangri-La Events Collection. The rewards program gives meeting professionals the opportunity to earn and redeem points for groups meetings, conferences and events across the Shangri-La, Kerry and Hotel Jen portfolio, while its Events Collection provides meeting planners with built-in experiential opportunities at the hotel company’s more than 100 properties around the world.

To appease the hotel company’s meetings clientele—which makes up more than a quarter of its business—the company created the Golden Circle Event Planner Rewards. The loyalty program gives planners the opportunity to earn up to 40,000 Golden Circle Points—the equivalent of 40 complimentary room nights—for an event booking. Members can also earn double points for any subsequent meetings or events booked in the same calendar year.

The Shangri-La Events Collection’s Meetings with More activities makes the meeting planner’s job easier, with everything from teambuilding to culturally themed events to CSR options available. At China World Hotel, Beijing, the hotel staff will work with planners to recreate a Beijing food street—complete with food stalls and local artisans such as dough sculptors, kite makers and cobblestone carvers. Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort & Spa in Cebu, Phillipines offers attendees the opportunity to take a 20-minute boat ride to the island of Olango, where they will work with the local public elementary school on nutrition and sports activities.
