The Radisson Blu brand continues its global expansion with its latest hotel opening in Bangkok on May 1. The 290-room Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel Bangkok is designed with the brand’s same European-inspired panache, while staying true to its local culture. Its style combined with a location in the heart of business-oriented Sukhumvit makes it an ideal choice for planners to add to their meeting-spot radars.

The first Radisson Blu hotel to open in Bangkok, the Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel Bangkok stands out to groups because of its seven restaurants and bars available, says Peter Schuler, the hotel’s general manager, as each one is designed with its own individual vibe. For instance, China Table, decorated with red vases and authentic paintings of Cantonese locals, offers an innovative take on Chinese cuisine, offering both a contemporary dim sum bar and more traditional fare. Tuscan-inspired Attico offers Italian cuisine and is designed with earth tones that create a warm, homey environment, complete with an open kitchen that features pans hanging from the ceiling.

“The panoramic 29th floor Vintage wine bar, showcasing an enviable collection of Old and New World varieties, is perfect for post-dinner imbibing and lounging,” says Schuler. “Or attendees can kick back and relax at B/Sharp lobby bar and B/Sweet dessert lounge, where cocktail mixology meets molecular desserts with al fresco seating along the hotel-front terrace.”

The hotel’s variety of meeting spaces also give meeting planners the opportunity to get creative. The Suite is available for smaller meetings with a built-in show kitchen, while The Gallery can incorporate more elaborate décor installations. The ballroom, which can host 280 guests, is decorated with orange, yellow and purple hues and a stenciled light installation, and provides another ideal spot.

The hotel has incorporated Radisson Blu’s Experience Meetings package, offering ‘Brain Box’ in which the meeting room set up is personalized and provides an atmosphere that supports the attendee’s (and meeting planner’s) creativity.

“Our Brain Box offering includes a customized Experience Meetings music collection with high-quality sound equipment, a selection of casual and flexible seating setups, and iPads or Tablets for attendees to share information on screens and projectors,” says Schuler.

Schuler adds that Executive Chef Asker Bay created “Brain Food” menu options exclusively for the Experience Meetings program. The menu features the freshest local ingredients, while adhering to the six basic principles of the Brain Food concept. Some of the menu items include smoked Atlantic salmon on whole wheat buns, shaved mortadella on olive scones, chicken brochette on lemongrass with mango salsa and steamed fish cooked in light soya and ginger sauce.
