Summer at the Inn of the Mountain Gods means so much more than golf and gaming. Groups can enjoy many outdoor teambuilding activities in the beautiful New Mexico weather, including the brand new Apache Eagle Zip Rider and Apache Wind Rider Zip Tour. The three-span Apache Wind Rider is the highest zip line in the United States, at 11,500 feet in elevation above what’s known as the “Apache Bowl,” and covers more than 8,900 feet in total length, with views of the Lincoln National forest and Sierra Blanca Mountain. The Apache Eagle Rider Zip Tour is a three-minute ride spanning 2,668 feet at an exhilarating 55 mile per hour. Zipliners race across Lake Mescalero at 7,185 feet.
Nearby Ski Apache is fun in summer too, and groups can choose from nature hikes, horseback riding or bicycling on five and a half miles of mountain bike trails. Kayaks and paddle boats are available to take people out on lovely Lake Mescalero. With an annual stock of nearly 20,000 trout, the lake offers ideal fishing conditions in spring and summer. There’s also a year-round sporting clay range, a sport that has made a comeback with groups.
The 273-room Southwestern-style resort was established by the Mescalero Apache Tribe and has more than 40,000 sf of meeting space in 15 different rooms. In summer, the popular casino is open 24 hours a day.
