About one hour north of San Diego in Carlsbad, the lushly landscaped, 611-room La Costa Resort & Spa unveils its splashy new look in November. A $50 million renovation overhauled 474 guestrooms and suites, while adding a series of new Meeting Planner Suites with quick access to the 100,000 sf of indoor/outdoor function space. We especially like the new 50,000-sf “Coastal Events Center” with its bountiful natural light and panoramic views of the leafy 400-acre campus.

Spa aficionados and social devotees put La Costa on the map back in the 1960s. Inspired by that legacy, the resort’s new “Rejuvenate & Repower” spa program is specifically designed for groups and events, centered around a dedicated spa function room with multiple private courtyards in the retooled 28,000-sf Spa at La Costa.

For golfers, the old North Course was torn up and rebuilt to create the newly named Champions Course. The South Course reopens with four new holes.
