Groups looking for wilderness adventures in Memphis, Tenn., can ironically find them indoors at Bass Pro Shops at the Pyramid.

The 32-story steel pyramid was a former sports and entertainment arena known as the Memphis Pyramid before reopening in 2015 as Bass Pro Shops at the Pyramid. In line with the national outdoors retailer’s brand, the property offers a wide range of wilderness-inspired activities, entertainment and retail as well as overnight stays in the 103-room Big Cypress Lodge hotel.

The venue is perfect for groups looking for a camping experience without having to rough it—at all. The hotel offers cabin-style décor, electric fireplaces and even screened-in porches with rocking chairs that overlook the indoor Cypress Swamp. This wetlands environment features aquariums and streams that house live alligators and 36 varieties of fish, and are dotted by 100-foot-tall replica Cypress trees. Attendees can even learn about the history of waterfowling and wetlands conservation in the interactive Ducks Unlimited National Waterfowling Heritage Center, also located on site.

Looking for team building? Attendees can bond over a round or two of bowling in the underwater, ocean-themed bowling alley. Custom sea animal bowling balls and 13 dock-like wooden lanes mix in with the adjacent, island-themed restaurant playfully dubbed Uncle Buck’s Fishbowl & Grill. Private event space is available at The Lookout restaurant, located 28 stories above the Memphis skyline. Glass observation decks, a 10,000-gallon catfish aquarium and a menu of delicious Southern cuisine round out the experience. Other meeting spaces available include five conference rooms, one boardroom and the Mississippi Terrace patio for up to 500.
