The highly anticipated Margaritaville Resort Orlando celebrated its groundbreaking earlier this year with an event that welcomed more than 250 attendees.

The 187-room hotel is set to open in late-2018 and will be set on 300 acres that will include miles of wooded fitness trails, a 12-acre waterpark, a water taxi system and a three-acre swimming area. The development will also offer 30,000 sf of function space, a wellness center, 200,000 sf of retail space and a dining and entertainment district. Additionally, the property will boast 1,000 further units including a mix of resort vacation homes, 1-8 bedroom cottages, villas and timeshare units.

“One of the most exciting components of Margaritaville Resort Orlando is the three acre swimming area – the first and only of its kind in Central Florida – featuring swim-up bars, natural sand beaches, cabanas and recreational activities that could be customized for groups including paddle-boarding and snorkeling,” said Jim Bagley, project developer for Margaritaville Resort Orlando. “The property has the ability to turn any business meeting into an unforgettable corporate team-building experience.”

The groundbreaking celebration included an island-inspired buffet, ice cold LandShark Lager, tropical drinks and entertainment by stilt walkers and steel drummers. Attendees included Margaritaville executives, representatives from the development company Encore Capital Management, local dignitaries and special guests.
