Meeting planners looking for an artsy New York-loft-style event space will now be able to find it on The Las Vegas Strip. On Oct. 20, Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas debuted The Gallery, a 1,900-sf space for meeting planners to make their own.
The raw loft space features floor-to-ceiling windows, a painted cement floor, white walls and 16-foot ceilings, which all create a blank canvas for meeting planners to create a customized event. While there is no current artist represented at this time, the artwork in The Gallery will rotate based on artist participation, says Denise Randazzo, director of marketing communications. The space can host 80 attendees for a seated dinner or up to 200 guests for a cocktail reception.
In addition to The Gallery, the 392-room hotel brings its trendy, Asian-inspired style to events in other ways. The 7,650-sf Oriental Ballroom, for instance, features floor-to-ceiling windows with views of The Strip, while the prefunction space features strands of glass bulbs hanging from the ceiling to create a bubbly, whimsical effect. The pool deck also makes an ideal outdoor venue, with private cabanas and splashes of lime green furniture. Past events have included poolside poker, live music and customized dinners.
Meeting planners can also work with the Mandarin Oriental team to plan teambuilding exercises. At the property, attendees can participate in cooking and cocktail-creating events. The Mandarin Bar’s mixologist crafts original cocktails combining local ingredients with an Asian twist. The Golden Leaf (or Mandarin Martini), for example, is made using Hendrick’s, Aperol, muddled mandarin, pineapple, fresh lime juice and simple syrup. Off site, the hotel offers groups racecar-track events, rock climbing and hiking at Red Rock preserve, as well as city-wide treasure hunts.
“Our hotel is small compared to Las Vegas standards,” says Randazzo. “The group will most likely be the only one in-house. We truly provide one-on-one personal service from the individuals checking into the conference service manager and planners relationship. We create custom menus and work with entertainment that is unique to Mandarin Oriental.”
To celebrate the launch of The Gallery, the property is offering the Meet and Greet at The Gallery package to groups. Starting Oct. 31, meeting planners will receive a 1-hour welcome cocktail reception in The Gallery, two suite upgrades, and two VIP round-trip airport transfers when booking a group of 45 rooms or more for two nights.
