The 4-diamond Hawks Cay Resort is located on mile marker 61 in Duck Key, nestled in the heart of the Florida Keys. Ninety minutes from Miami International Airport, the 60-acre island is a prime spot for corporate groups with the largest meetings facility south of the mainland. The resort offers a slew of fun group experiences including meetings aboard a catamaran and lunch with their resident bottlenose dolphins.

The friendly staff with the resort’s Island Exploration Department fuses aspects of entertainment, concierge, reservations and guest services to create tailor-made group experiences and exhilarating teambuilding opportunities.

Take your group for a Segway tour of Duck Key or treat them to the new JetLev flying experience. JetLev is a water-propelled flying machine that lifts group members up to three stories in the air over the Atlantic Ocean. Others can ride in a boat alongside the flyer until it is their turn to try.

Hawks Cay has 177 guestrooms and 160 two- and three-bedroom villas that combine elegant tropical décor with that Jimmy Buffett-style laidback attitude the Keys are all about. Hawks Cay’s meeting space totals more than 20,000 sf of indoor waterfront space.

For a more unconventional approach to meetings, groups up to 120 people can meet aboard Blue, the resort’s 63-foot catamaran (also referred to as the hotel’s on-the-water boardroom). Leave the traditional behind as you host an al fresco meeting, sailing over beautiful coral reefs and gliding past schools of colorful fish and curious sea turtles. The three-hour rental also includes snacks and baked treats.

Blue Catamaran Hawks Cay

For an easy, breezy evening event rent the catamaran and take the group for a sunset sail. Enjoy good company as you watch the blazing sun sink into the horizon.

Top off the event with dinner catered by the resort’s award-winning chefs. Try the conch fritters and mini crab cakes, and follow them with the truffled risotto fritters and marinated fish tacos.

Another exciting option is the chance to have lunch with Hawks Cay’s resident dolphins in the resort’s natural saltwater lagoon. Hawks Cay is the only resort in the continental U.S. to have an onsite Dolphin Connection program.  The program was created in 1990 and focuses on the advancement of marine mammal education, breeding and research techniques.

During the course of the meal, the Dolphin Connection team will join your group and share a 15-minute presentation containing valuable information about the dolphins and their conservation.

Your group will laugh and clap as the dolphins perform their high-flying acrobatics. Who knows, a few of your attendees may even be lucky enough to share a smooch with a member of the playful pod.
