In this InFocus, Prevue had the opportunity to chat with Cindy Hoddeson, director of meeting/incentives sales, VisitMonaco to learn how planners could add value in conventional and out-of-the-box ways to meetings & incentives.

Q: How does Monaco deliver solid ROI for groups?

A: Monaco and its famed Monte Carlo district conjure up images of royalty, Formula I racing, James Bond and lifestyles of the rich and famous. Many have seen Monaco on the silver screen in films such as Monte Carlo Baby, To Catch a Thief, Iron Man II and Golden Eye to name a few. The perceived value far exceeds the actual cost. From the announcement of a trip to Monaco, goals are set, excitement builds and prospective participants work toward bringing the dream of Monaco into reach.

Q: How does Monaco deliver solid ROE (Return on Experience) for groups?

A: The diversity of the Principality of Monaco allows organizers to offer customized and personalized experiences. Today doing the expected is not enough. Incentive trip participants and meeting attendees may be in the same business but this doesn’t mean that they have similar interests. A Monaco DMC coined the saying, “Your Day, Your Way” to reflect this.

Amongst a wide range of activities, possibilities include cooking lessons, wine tastings, tennis, sailing, Formula 3 driving experiences and painting classes in plein air. These are just a few of the ways, one can discover the beauty, culture and history of Monaco and the Cote d’Azur. The creation of these personalized experiences by corporations sends a message of appreciation and thankful recognition to their clients and customers.

Q: What are three WOW group experiences that increase ROE?

A: Monaco has an event calendar rich with one-of-a-kind experiences. A prestigious series of open air concerts are performed during the summer season in an enchanting location, the Cours d’Honneur (the Courtyard of the Prince’s Palace). Blocks of tickets can be secured for your group.

The International Fireworks Festival, an annual summer competition of the most talented pyrotechnic specialists from around the world affords one the opportunity to see original and beautiful firework displays (at no cost) while dining all’aperto on a terrace overlooking the port of Monte Carlo.

In April, the Monte Carlo Rolex Tennis Masters at the Monte Carlo Country Club showcases top players like Nadal and Djokovic, where they compete on clay courts with spectacular views of the Mediterranean in the background under the dazzling sun. One may also glimpse a view of HSH Prince Albert II who attends regularly.
