Meeting planners who can’t get enough of Disney Cruise Line will be excited to know that the Walt Disney Company plans to build two additional cruise ships to expand upon its already extensive fleet.
The new ships will be completed in 2021 and 2023, and will feature the same immersive entertainment, storytelling and service offered on other Disney Cruise Line ships. Each ship will be approximately 135,000 gross tons and include about 1,250 staterooms, making them slightly larger than Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, which launched in 2011 and 2012, respectively, as the latest in the Disney Cruise Line fleet.
While it’s still too early to tell what itineraries or activities will be available for the two new ships, the company has launched several industry firsts since initially setting sail in 1998. Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy both feature the first water coaster at sea (the AquaDuck) as well as the first virtual portholes in interior staterooms, which provide real-time views of the sea as well as sightings of animated Disney characters—ideal for the kid in every attendee.
