TRYP by Wyndham Expands in New York Market

The TRYP by Wyndham brand is making a name for itself in the New York market, with its second hotel opening scheduled for spring 2015. The 334-room TRYP by Wyndham New York Times Square is currently undergoing a multimillion-dollar renovation and redesign in preparation for its debut.

Led by owner and operator Hampshire Hotels Management, the hotel will feature signature brand amenities such as a gastro bar serving cocktails and tapas-style dishes in a setting that features a combination of couches, communal dining tables and smaller bistro-style tables. The hotel will also have the brand’s Plaza Central social center for guests looking for comfortable seating and integrated Wi-Fi connectivity, as well as meeting space in the onsite library.

The property’s signature guest rooms will include five fitness rooms that feature fitness equipment for a private workout. They will also include 45 over-sized family rooms with bunk beds for children and a larger, separate bed for adults—ideal for meeting attendees bringing family along to the Big Apple.

The brand’s blog wall, comprised of two 46-inch screens, will be on display to keep attendees updated on local events and connected to hotel staff, known as TRYP Ambassadors. Additional amenities and services will include free high-speed wireless Internet access, a coffee bar, business services and a fitness center. With the brand’s emphasis on local culture, attendees can also expect a mixture of urban artworks and furnishings that add a New York-centric touch.

“The heart of the TRYP by Wyndham brand is our ‘Own the City’ brand culture, which displays passion for our guests and for the cities we serve,” says Bill Hall, brand senior vice president of TRYP by Wyndham. “We look forward to extending that culture to New York City visitors at a second location, which will exude the spirit, style and service for which the brand has become known.”

Better known in the European markets, the TRYP by Wyndham brand has been expanding globally since 2013, openings in major cities throughout Latin America, Europe and the Middle East. The brand’s next hotel in the New York market will open in 2016. TRYP by Wyndham Long Island City will open in the borough of Queens and will have 104 rooms. The hotel, which will be developed by 559 Development, will also include a fitness center and a rooftop cafe and bar. TRYP by Wyndham New York City Times Square South, the first U.S. hotel under the brand, opened in early 2012.
