It’s been 80 years since Sun Valley Inn opened its doors in one of Idaho’s most idyllic stretches of mountainous terrain.

Since then, as the surrounding town has grown in popularity among ski bunnies and year-round adventurers and luxury-seekers, the hotel has maintained its historic grace. But with an extensive renovation in the works, it also has its eyes on the future.

The inn’s revamp includes a sprucing up and reconfiguration of guest rooms; 25 refreshed rooms debuted this fall, and another 80 will be finished up next fall. Once completed, the inn will have 98 guest rooms and include newly expanded suites.

The inn’s dining experience, too, is getting a reboot. The Ram restaurant will retain its classic charm, but debut a trendy exhibition kitchen for a more interactive F&B experience. The Ram Bar, meanwhile, is getting a beautification that includes fresh wooden floors, a new fireplace ideal for warming up in ski season and large-screen TVs for sports-watching. Renovations at both sites will be completed by the end of the month. Finally, the inn has just welcomed a brand-new restaurant: Village Station, a laid-back spot for craft beers, pizzas, sandwiches, burgers and entrees. The restaurant’s train-themed décor nods to Sun Valley’s history as a hub for the Union Pacific railroad, and an outdoor patio is perfect for alfresco dining on sunny days.

Eight decades on, there’s never been a better time to book an event at the inn, which also features meeting space for up to 1,000, a relaxing spa and easy access to Sun Valley’s team-building-ready attractions and adventures.
