Pendry Hotels: A Brand for the ‘Self-Aware’

Montage Hotels & Resorts introduced Pendry Hotels in 2014, a brand for the self-aware and self-engaged traveler. Pendrys’ ‘know thyself’ motto is expected to fill the void between the lifestyle and luxury hotel spaces with a subdued trendy (father and son team/founders Michael and Alan Fuerstman encourage us to think ‘London hip’) sort of atmosphere.

Pendry San Diego, is currently under construction in San Diego’s energized Gaslamp District, marking the first hotel in the collection, with 317 rooms and 22,000 sf of meeting space. Also in its booty of spoils is a rooftop pool, two restaurants, an ultra-lounge, beer hall, spa and fitness facility—all maintaining Pendry’s design-driven, fashion-forward philosophy.

“In choosing Pendry, our guests will not have to compromise between design or service,” Alan Fuerstman says. “Inspired, fashion-forward design will be coupled with a service culture that has defined Montage Hotels & Resorts since its inception.”

Though programming is still under development, Alan is hoping to draw the engaged, intellectually curious traveler. How this plays out will be anybody’s guess. But with the story of ‘you’ as the hotel’s underlying theme, it’s certainly worth the wait.
